Gratitude and Perspective

Note from Nilmini: Gratitude and Perspective

I had a plan about what I was going to write about this week. This note was going to be more focused on real estate with a “little sprinkle of this” and “dash of that”. There is a lot I want to say about what is going in in the world of real estate right now, especially as we look in the rear view at Q3 to predict what might happen in Q4. But it all seems hollow and pointless when I place it in the context of all that is happening in the world today, especially the war that is raging in Israel which I cannot even begin to process…

The thing is, I have some experience of living in this space of dissonance and duality having grown up with a civil war as the backdrop to my childhood, and three decades of political instability that colored my adult life in America. The feeling of helplessness as you watch a place you call home be ripped apart so horrifically is hard to describe. I know a few people in my life who are being directly impacted by the horrors in Israel and my heart breaks for them. However, I do know that lingering too long in this space of deep sadness, when there is nothing you can do about it, isn’t productive or helpful to anyone.

As hard as it is to do, I have been intentionally shifting my perspective towards deep gratitude for all the good in my life lately - children who are happy, healthy and engaged fully in their lives, a partner who I still cannot believe is mine, who loves and supports us with every ounce of his being, parents who are healthy though very far away, and work that supports my family’s dreams as it allows others to live out their own dreams of a life richly lived. From this quiet place of gratitude, I can access a well of blessing and powerful healing energy that I then transmit to those who are experiencing incredible suffering.

I believe that shifting our perspective to move through our life is a necessity. Gratitude always brings a fresh perspective and opens fields of energy that can be harnessed to make change in our own life, as well as the lives of others. So, what perspective can you change today to create a shift that has a powerful ripple effect?

My thoughts about how a shift in perspective relates to real estate as well…and I promise to share them with you next week during my Monday Market Minute (seems it will be a few Minutes since I didn’t talk about any of it in this note). Thank you for being with me on this journey of life, and for allowing and encouraging me to do this “Realtoring” thing honestly and authentically. YOU are one of my blessings and I am grateful for your support, business, referrals, and connections.

Warmly,

Nilmini
