I just returned from Nashville where I was with colleagues from across the country and the world, who had gathered for the annual Sotheby's International Realty Global Networking Event. Since joining Sotheby's in 2020, I have been attending events like this one which have taken me to several cities - Austin, Tahoe, Vegas, Scottsdale, Sonoma and most recently to the country music capital of Nashville.
While I appreciate the grandeur of the larger, global events which typically have more than 3000+ agents, famous keynote speakers like Reece Witherspoon and private block parties with Dustin Lynch (they definitely roll out the red carpet!), I am partial to the smaller, more intimate ones that are invitation only. It may sound like these are snooty and exclusive, but the reality is that it is in these gatherings of 30 - 80 people that I have made the best, most sincere connections.
My real estate practice is hyper-local but as someone who grew up across the world, lived in several states and even Zimbabwe in the late 90's (reach out for more details!), I sometimes feel limited, and restrained by the geographic footprint of my reach. This is when belonging to a trusted, luxury, global brokerage makes all the difference! The human beings I have come to know through the Sotheby's network are not only masters at what they do, but more importantly, they are interesting, passionate, inspiring and kind people I look forward to seeing whenever we have the privilege to gather.
I believe deeply that we should be brave and bold as we imagine our "wild and precious life" (Mary Oliver), and have the courage to take small and big steps towards creating the future we desire. Where we choose to put down roots is key to this journey and I am grateful for the small part I get to play in this adventure. Because of our global reach, I can pick up the phone to most anywhere my friends and family want to relocate and connect those I love with those I trust! The world can truly be a small, safe and trusting place. This is something I can put my faith in, especially in unsettling times...
